1935 – Bayswater Road, London Original top down hand Demolition

Above the original Syd (he is 4th from the left standing with cap in hand.) with “the lads” long before the advent of TV ads and edge protection this was obviously taken at break time, or Syd was auditing the demo works.

.1972 Griffin Street, Deptford, South East London.

Obviously the star of the shot is the Caterpillar – HLW451C, however the young lad in the tank top and 1970’s hair is none other than Gary Kemp, who after that went on ultimately to find fame with Spandau Ballet, before playing one of the Krays with brother Martin. ‘Hide and Seek’ was shot entirely around Griffin Road area, by the children’s film foundation in 1972. This resulted in Syd Bishops & Sons getting a credit at the end of the film
